Music

I grew up to seventies/eighties rock - heavy 'prog' stuff that Floyd and Zep so well, thro' to the "don't bore us - get to the chorus!" country rock ballads of Tom Petty and Fleetwood Mac.  Anything with great guitair, great sax, or ideally - both!

Leonard Cohen, for the sheer poetry, and the man himself.

More recently, a hip-hop nod to the Peas and Eminem.

Here's a dozen or two of what I liked, and still like, best:

James - Sit Down - sums it up for me - how about you?

Tom Petty - Learing to Fly - the joys of a misspent youth

Traveling Wilburys - End of the Line - an array of talent; tragic loss of the Big O

Lindsey Buckingham Stevie Nicks- Never Going Back Again - from the heart, or what?

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here - for Jon, RIP

David Gilmour & Candy Dulfer - Shine On You Crazy Diamond - see previous!

Led Zeppelin - Since I've Been Loving You - forty years ago, this made me woder what I was missing!

Leonard Cohen: The Stranger Song - meanwhile, my big sister Brenda was playing this, Marianne, and Bird on a Wire

Leonard Cohen with Sonny Rollins - Who by Fire - LC graciously recognising when he is outclassed

801 - You really got me - tribute to Ray Davies' for the most influential riff ever

Sting with Branford Marsalis - Roxanne - briiliant soprano sax

Candy Dulfer with Dave Stewart - Lily Was Here - fabulous title track to the Dutch-language movie De Kassière

Beth Orton & M. Ward - Buckets of Rain - great version

The Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love? - where indeed?

Leonard Cohen - Closing Time - that much dark fun, at his age?

Leonard Cohen - First we take Manhattan - you'll need to work this one out for yourself ...

Eminem - Lose Yourself - more brilliant lyrics

White Stripes - Hotel Yorba - sooo chilled
